A Particles debutant, Chris Cargo has been an influential figure in underground house for over two decades. Over 250 production credits are testament to this longevity with the UK artist seeing his music feature on the likes of Paul Thomas' UV, D-Formation's Beat Boutique and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, with a further half-century on his own If You Wait imprint. Now debuting on Particles, "Wide Eyed" is a low-slung groover that develops with easy rhythmic poise before subtle melodic overtones filter into sonic range. Luscious pads and grooved bassline add to the aural collage before a breakdown introduces a swathe of new elements that fizz to a rousing white-noise crescendo before dropping back into the gently pulsating rhythm of earlier movements. The result is a smooth and immaculate offering from the Chris Cargo studio.

Chris Domingo is another longstanding artist within the underground dance fraternity. Finding success in both solo guise and with former production partner, Mariner, the US artist has seen his music feature on a host of leading labels that include Songuara, 3rd Avenue and Stellar Fountain, while work for Particles included 2021's "Azimuth" and "Lose Control" EPs, before May 2022 saw the debut of his Domingo + moniker in collaboration with Eric Lune and "Sentimental Fool". Now returning to the label, the Domingo+ remix sees an intricate percussive top-line based on elements from "Wide Eyed" shine before a familiar bassline cadence also makes its presence felt. Introducing a new syncopated synth line adds depth and intensity to proceedings before the second half reveals a glorious and meandering synth line that provides a touch of class and emotion to the original.

Subandrio needs no introduction to the particles faithful. A renowned figure across his Sri Lankan home and far beyond its borders, his unmistakable production work has lit up a plethora of labels including Mango Alley, Perspectives Digital and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music. A regular on both Proton labels, a quintet of remixes has seen him rework the likes of Andre Sobota, Juan Deminicis, Trilucid and Matter since a December 2015 Particles debut. Now returning to the label for the first time in 5 years, the Subandrio remix is a typically sumptuous affair with powerful rolling groove melded with the textured pads and melodic bed of Chris Cargo's original. Full of vibrancy and atmosphere at the breakdown, a superbly cadenced motif and rippling stepped arpeggio combine to create a memorable interpretation.

Including remixes from Subandrio and Domingo +, Chris Cargo is "Wide Eyed" with musical delight.
