G Spice returns to Piston Recordings with the electrifying ‘Rainforest’. G Spice's journey into the realm of music was driven by a deep connection with sound and a passion to transmit energy through his art. Emerging in the early 90s, he embarked on his DJing odyssey, gracing the stages of raves, festivals, and clubs across Greece, inspired by the revolutionary sounds of acid house. Over the years, G Spice honed his craft, holding residencies at esteemed venues like D.N.A and Groove box club, while sharing the stage with renowned artists such as Alex Neri, Antoine Clamaran, Quiver, and Matthias Heilbronn. As the new millennium dawned, G Spice's production prowess came to the forefront, with releases on esteemed labels like Large, King St, Sanity, Dutchie, and Deep Class Records. His tracks garnered significant support from industry titans like Carl Cox, Tedd Patterson, and DJ Spen to name a few. Great to have him back at the label once again.

‘Rainforest’ opens the release, introing with a chunky kick drum and crispy hi hats alongside a warm, subtle bass pluck. Hypnotic percussions layer up as sweeping FX add depth and texture to the sound. Various plucked instruments combine creating complex patterns as warmer chords fade in an out. On the break, a surreal sequence unfolds before the main groove returns for the duration. A must have, no doubt. ‘Deep Focus’ rounds out this release and opens with a nice, punchy kick drum and shuffling hi hat combo. An array of filtered and FX laden percussions build a solid foundation, becoming an infectious element in the groove throughout. Stabbing chords add depth and drive while subtle 303 lines weave through the sound. Cool spoken vocals come through on the break, delivering an intriguing narrative before the drop takes us to the final act. Top-notch and not to be missed.
