Hangin' On A Dream (Incl. Conan Liquid, Italian Foundation Mixes)

Tony Records is coming with da hot butterz for the beginning of the year! Given a new facelift by the UK’s very own, Conan Liquid and the Italian nimble-fingered duo, Italian Foundation a.k.a. Tony Loreto and Jacko.

They’ve taken the UPZ’s “Hangin’ On A Dream” featuring the Seal-esque lead of Mr. Rick Coffey to the next level in electronic dance music.

This six-remix epic begins with Conan Liquid’s Main Vox. A monstrous kick and percussions pulsate underneath hypnotizing, yet outspoken electro keys stabs over a stripped down rhythm track. Coffey is earthy, dropping his lead strategically over the wide terrain of the track. This mix is full of energy and peak hour driven. Yes Mr. DJ, drop mix this at the bewitching hour of your set, your floor will love you for it! Conan Liquid TIG Dub is a klinging, klanging experiment in futuristic electronica, almost industrial sounding! This will shock your audience’s nervous system, penetrative, forceful but fun.

The Tony Loreto & Jacko (Italian Foundation) Remix is sassy. That bassline shakes like those chicks on onionbooty.com. Busy percussions move at a neat pace never overpowering. The warm keys and its melody support Coffey’s frothy yet slightly raspy lead vocal. Glorious sustained keys lead up to the 1st heartfelt, melancholy keyboard solo then back to full production and for the 2nd time, zips out of that “dress” once more for the sexiest Rhodes organ solo to date.

The soWHAT Mix is sweet and luscious, strictly old skool house vocal grooves. Lovely minor keys equipped with heavenly solos toward the end, gurgling guitars and an enchanting arrangement is definitely for those who love the rich, soulful sound of uptempo R&B dance. For those who want the Original Mix, well, it is here, just for you taking another stroll down Soul Street—175 Prospect St. East Orange, NJ—that’s where soul resides! Rhodes organs walk confidently, deep, pure and organic. Coffey is way out in front and caresses the melody as he sings “Come on, please put that dress on baby, take my hand, let’s go and dance all night, I wanna take you out tonight, this could be paradise” what woman can resist that! That organ solo just seeps under your skin, smooth, classy and inviting. Conan Liquid Main Dub included.

REVIEWS:

Mike Fossati (Spirit of House): Hangin' on a dream is one of the hidden treasures from UPZ's United People of Zion long player released back in October 2007 through soWHAT Records, but gladly this wonderful song has been picked up by Tony Records and will be given a proper release complete with a classy selection of remixes. Rick Coffey is the featured vocalist, contributing a deeply felt, one of a kind Seal-esque performance. The soulful yet organic 'Original Mix' features enchanting keys and organ over a laidback backing, followed by the luscious 'soWHAT Mix' which oozes with exquisite keys and lovely guitars. On remix duty we have Conan Liquid whose remorselessly kickin' remix is fueled with atmospheric synth melodies and electronic keys stabs, with this 'TIG Dub' going one step further and turning the track into a monstrous electronica adventure. Next are Tony Loreto & Jacko who deliver a seductive interpretation built around a deep smooth backdrop, with the warm keys and jazzy rhodes giving the track a sublime feel.
