Cast your mind back to 1998, an incredible year for techno, where releases were unique, idiosyncratic and the scene was pure rock’n’roll. Justin Berkovi had just burst onto the scene with seminal releases for Mosquito 'The Crouton EP', Force Inc (01273 Predicaments) and ‘Homage’ on Projex (Watch this space for the reissue!). Next up he delivered this twisted EP for the Edinburgh-based ‘Drought’ imprint.

Multiple I/O kicks off the proceedings and was a Sven Vath favourite back in the day with its pounding distorted kick and sheer energy. The track builds into a trance-like crescendo with percussive shards exploding all over the place.

Things take a zombie-like turn on ‘Experienced’, with Berkovi’s wasted mates making an appearance alongside some laidback distorted grooves.

On the flip, Berkovi dives into FM madness with ‘Compatible Strangers’ and finishes off the EP with the mesmeric and beautifully eerie ‘Girl 56’.
